If you haven’t tried it yet, you’ve definitely heard about it. Axe throwing is an exciting, adrenaline-inducing activity that’s great for groups of friends or date nights!
It can be exciting just thinking about unleashing your inner lumberjack and tossing an axe with all your strength at the target. But it might also be intimidating if you’ve never tried it before!
Don’t worry. Whether it’s your first time axe throwing in Orlando or you’re a seasoned axe thrower, anyone can join in on the fun. Below, we’ve compiled alist of everything you need to know about axe throwing— the preparation, throwing tips and more!
Great for beginners
It may seem daunting at first, but axe throwing is simple to pick up. You don’t have to be a pro to try it! Here at Elev8 Fun, we provide you with real, well-balanced axes to throw at laser-projected targets. With a variety of game modes and high-quality Lasertron Axe Throwing technology, first time throwers can have a low-pressure, easy and fun experience with axe throwing, just like you might when you head to the bowling alley.
Come prepared
Safety is our highest priority. Coming prepared to the axe throwing bar will ensure the best experience for everyone. We require closed-toed shoes and highly recommend wearing comfortable clothing that isn’t too loose and avoiding loose jewelry.
Many have asked if Crocs count as closed-toed shoes, but unfortunately, they do not work for our Sanford axe throwing attraction. Additionally, guests must be at least 21 years old to participate. Surrounding the throwing bays, we have seating and tables for you and your party to enjoy food and drinks between rounds. We ask that our guests follow all instructions for the safety of the group.
Technique and tips
The key to successful axe throwing is proper technique. You can learn more about our tips and tricks in our recent blogpost, but we’ll also cover some basic pointers here.
Stand about 12 feet from the target and stay behind the throwing line. Start with a comfortable grip at the base of the axe with your dominant hand, resting your other hand on top for balance. Keeping your eye on the target, bring the axe directly behind your head and throw the axe forward, releasing once your arms are extended.
After releasing the axe, follow through with the throwing motion, keeping your arms and wrists locked—don’t flick your wrist! The most important thing is to practice. If you don’t hit the bullseye the first time, don’t lose heart. Keep throwing, and you’ll be racking up the points in no time.
Have fun!
Finally, it’s important to remember that axe throwing is meant to be fun! Try not to take it too seriously and don’t get discouraged if you don’t hit the bullseye every time. The goal is to have a good time and have fun with it. You may discover a secret talent for axe throwing you never knew you had!
All in all, axe throwing is a unique and fun activity for both beginners and returners. With the right preparation, technique and attitude, anyone can learn to throw an axe like a pro.
